Peru. Lima.

2013 Nov. Peru. Lima.

Flew in to Lima from Singapore via Amsterdam. The most direct flight was operated by KLM with transit in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, one of the nicer airports in Europe. Other choices involved at least 2 transits and would be painful to travel. We arrived and stayed in Miraflores in Lima.

Dinner was at La Lucha upon arrival, an extremely popular Peruvian fast food joint with great vibes. Casual and fast service for some great sandwiches and juices. It is open nearly all day adding to its street food like charm. I don’t speak Spanish but can feel that the staff were nice and friendly. Definite worth a visit while in Lima.

Lima on a weekend morning is full of people and activities. Very vibrant streetlife.

potatoes
There are about 4000 varieties of potatoes in Peru, each with its own name! Fascinating!

Larcomar is a big shopping and dining complex in Miraflores, with good views overlooking the sea.

Wandered around in the evening and decided on this Alfresco Restaurant for dinner. Peruvian cuisine in general is very good, and easily liked by asian or western diets, very tasty and well balanced flavours with nothing too exotic or strange. Of cos, the popular Peruvian cocktail Pisco Sour made everything on the table taste even better.

Pisco Sour
My first taste of Pisco Sour. Yum! It quickly became a staple at our meal times.
cerviches
Assortment of Cerviches – raw seafood with lime juice and herbs.
shrimps
Shrimp dish with rice, I think.
causa rellena
Causa rellena – Peruvian layered mashed potato with chicken and vegetable fillings in between
